Private Swimming Lessons in Hampshire
ONE-ON-ONE ATTENTION, REAL RESULTSA private swimming lesson with SwimFish means your child or you have the undivided attention of Tanya or Kirstie for the entire session. No waiting for others to finish, no adapting to the group’s pace, no shared feedback. Every minute of every lesson is focused on your specific goals, your specific technique, and your specific progress. Private lessons are the fastest, most effective route to genuine improvement, and for many of our swimmers, they are life-changing.
Who Are Private Lessons For?
Children Who Need Extra Confidence or Support
Some children simply thrive with individual attention. The pace is right for them, the feedback is personal, and the absence of any group dynamic means they can focus entirely on their own swimming – not on what others around them can do.
Nervous Children Who Struggle in Group Classes
For a child who finds group settings overwhelming, anxious, or distracting, a private lesson can be transformative. The one-to-one environment is calm and patient by design. There is no comparison, no competition, and no pressure – just your child and their teacher, working together at exactly the right pace.
Adult Beginners Who Prefer Privacy
Many adult learners find the idea of a group class daunting, particularly if they are complete beginners or have any anxiety about the water. A private lesson removes that element entirely. It is just you and your instructor, in a private pool – the most comfortable and confidence-building format available.
Swimmers Who Want to Accelerate Their Progress
For children or adults who are already swimming competently but want to move forward faster – whether for fitness, competition, or personal goals – private lessons deliver results that group classes simply cannot match. Technique is corrected in real time, goals are set and pursued, and progress is measurable session by session.
What Makes a Private Lesson Different?
In a group class, your instructor is attending to other swimmers. Feedback is shared, activities are paced to the group, and individual attention – while always prioritised – is by nature divided. In a private lesson, that changes completely.
Tanya or Kirstie designs the session specifically for you. Every drill, every correction, every word of encouragement is directed at the one person in the water. The results speak for themselves.
How Private Lessons Work at SwimFish
Your first private lesson begins with a conversation about your goals. What do you want to achieve? What feels difficult right now? What would success look like for you or your child? From there, Tanya or Kirstie builds an organic plan and works through it with you progressively. Sessions are typically 30 minutes long. Homework is sometimes given – small things to practise between sessions that make a meaningful difference.

What Parents Say About Private Lessons at SwimFish
“Our son was absolutely petrified of water. We never thought he would go into the pool voluntarily. After private lessons with Tanya, not only does he swim independently – he is teaching us how to do it. The patience and dedication they showed him was just extraordinary.”
“My daughter was nervous in group classes and making very slow progress. We switched to private lessons with Kirstie and the change was immediate. Kirstie is incredibly calm, patient, and knows exactly how to build a nervous child’s confidence without pushing too hard.”
