Parent and child lessons
Our parent and child lessons are the perfect way to introduce babies and young children (from 3 months to 4 years, before they start school) to the water in a safe and enjoyable environment.
We focus on fun, confidence, and water safety through play, using toys and songs to create a positive and engaging swimming experience for your child. Water provides a naturally calming setting, helping little ones feel at ease while they explore and develop new skills.
These classes are designed to help children enjoy the water while gradually building a strong foundation for swimming technique. With parents, grandparents, or carers by their side, children not only gain physical benefits but also form trust and confidence that will support them in the water and beyond.
If you are looking to build trust, boost confidence, and encourage a lifelong love of swimming, early years swimming is the ideal starting point.
Class Times:
Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays from 9am
Saturdays from 8 AM (term time only)
Lessons for School Children
Ideally, children have had an introduction to swimming with a parent and then progress into our classes. This makes such a difference to water confidence. We try and keep our lessons small, fun and full of happy action. Our aim is for a happy and calm environment, where we are all heard and taught progressively. We teach all four strokes with tumble turns. This takes weekly practice and commitment from both the parent and child.
These lessons are term time only, Monday to Thursday afternoons from 3.45 pm.
Also on Saturday mornings from 8 am (two classes are run at the same time, Kirstie’s class and Tanya’s class).
Adult lessons
For adults looking to build water confidence as a beginner, or to improve strokes and technique as a more able swimmer. Our lessons give you flexibility and we will tailor these to achieve your individual goals. Lessons can be arranged one to one, or as a group. Arrange your group and let us find a mutual time to swim.
Tween and Teen lessons
For confident swimmers to develop and strengthening their technique on all strokes, with tumble turns. We will introduce some rookie lifeguarding, artistic swimming and overall aquatic excellence.
For less confident swimmers that have missed out on lessons, we can arrange very small group lessons to give more confidence.
Private lessons
Private lessons are ideal for those who need that little bit of extra help to progress.
Private swimming lessons give you or your child the maximum amount of support and all the reassurance needed.
We focus solely on the individual, working at your own pace, so realistic goals can be achieved.
For children we make our one-to-one swimming classes fun, to help them enjoy the experience so they look forward to their swimming lesson each week.
Each lesson is structured and tailored to your individual needs.
Lessons are designed to help you or your child develop on a weekly basis, so you gradually strengthen and master the swimming technique, and overcome fears.
Rookie Lifeguard
The Rookie Lifeguard programme, designed by water safety specialists at RLSS UK, aims to ensure participants have essential water skills to keep themselves safe and knowledge of what to do in an emergency. Children must be able to swim 50m strong front crawl.
Children will learn many new skills, including towing, floating, diving from the surface and poolside, and retrieving objects from the bottom of the pool.
Children will be taught how to tread water efficiently, thus preserving heat and energy, as well as swimming with clothes on and removing them from within the water.
The programme features swimming and lifesaving skills supported by water safety education, allowing participants to enjoy swimming as an activity and, vitally, to protect their lives should an accident occur in or out of the water.
Rookie Lifeguards will work for Bronze, Silver and Gold awards, with three awards at each level. Theory-based lessons to back up practical skills take place at the poolside.
RLSS UK’s Rookie Lifeguard programme gives your child the skills they need to be confident in the pool or the sea – which means peace of mind for you.
Can be arranged as a group activity for more confident swimmers.
